Annual Turkey Trot 5k happening this Thanksgiving

The Crisis Services of North Alabama will raise funds from this year's event for programs providing services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The annual Turkey Trot 5k is returning this Thanksgiving. Each year, Crisis Services of North Alabama raises funds for programs providing services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and for HELPline, a confidential, 24/7 crisis hotline. This event will mark the 30th anniversary of Turkey Trot, which was initially a fundraiser for HELPline. Since that time, Crisis Services has used the funds raised from Turkey Trot to support all programs.

"The Crisis Services Turkey Trot has, for three decades, been a fun yet impactful way for our community to come together on Thanksgiving morning, all while supporting the vital services we offer," said Janet Gabel, Executive Director of Crisis Services of North Alabama. "We're truly thankful for the runners, walkers, volunteers and sponsors who have been a part of this event and helped us answer the call from those in crisis."

The 5K kicks off at 8 a.m. on November 23, 2023 in front of Spragins Hall on The University of Alabama in Huntsville campus and will loop around the to finish back at Spragins Hall.
