MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama Department of Labor released the official count for initial claims filed during the week of April 19 – April 25, 2020.
74,966 initial claims were filed either online or by telephone during this time period. 62,448 of those claims are COVID-19 related.
This brings the total for April though April 25 to 325,652. Unemployment claims in April 2019 were a seasonally adjusted 71,185.

Health Care and Social Assistance (4,349).
Jefferson County had largest number of claims with 11,878.
