HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A motorcyclist faces multiple charges after a pursuit that left multiple cars wrecked and sent four people, including two Alabama state troopers, to the hospital.
ALEA said on Wednesday that Hunter Thomas Rollins, 23, of Huntsville, was arrested for his involvement in the pursuit and crash. The pursuit began on U.S. 72 and Shields Road in Madison County when a motorcyclist refused to pull over for a traffic stop. Rollins was identified as the driver of a motorcycle that led ALEA Troopers on a pursuit resulting in a crash at Jordan Lane and Holmes Avenue.
Rollins was charged with two counts of felony attempting to flee and elude law enforcement, four counts of felony leaving the scene of an accident with injury, and one count of reckless endangerment. He was booked into the Madison County Jail on a $31,000 bond. The female rider was also identified, but ALEA says she is no longer considered a suspect.
According to ALEA, at the intersection of Jordan Lane and Holmes Avenue, an ALEA Trooper vehicle and a Honda Civic collided. The Trooper vehicle overturned and caught fire. Two other vehicles, a Dodge Charger and a Honda Accord, were struck as a result of the first collision.
The motorcyclist evaded arrest.
All four of the injured, two troopers and two civilians, were treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries and released.
The incident remains under investigation.
