The initial launching of Artemis I was scrubbed.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — NASA scrubbed the Artemis I launch from Kennedy Space Center early this morning. The cause of the cancellation... an engine bleed malfunction.

With today's launch scrapped, NASA is looking at another chance for lift-off on Friday, September 2, 2022.

Although people were initially disappointed, many understood in the name of science.

"It was definitely disappointing but you know, we know that this is how science works and sometimes it doesn't always go according to plan and we were prepared for that. And, you know, we brought costumes, we brought helmets, we brought friends, so we just made the morning amazing anyway and I mean, we're right here underneath the Saturn V. So, I mean, I couldn't ask for more," said U.S. Space and Rocket Center Launch Party Attendee, Laura Ybarra.

"A lot of people are like, "why can't we get right on the first time?' To me, at my age, I don't ever see you getting things right the first time. You know, can you as a person think of everything...? I mean, you're looking at the Saturn V, you see here, you're looking at millions of parts, that have to work exactly when they're supposed to because if one doesn't go when it's supposed to go... The show's over!" said USSCR Volunteer, Tony Piroli.

In the crowd today were people who of course are interested in all things space and science. Some of the younger crowd members are even looking to have careers in space and science:

"I'm thinking probably something with science. Maybe a biology major. So, this is a really good experience," said USSCR Launch Party Attendee, Grania Sullivan.

Again, although folks faced some disappointment over today's scrubbing. This just leaves more room for excitement to build!

"Hopefully, we'll be able to come back, I think, I really hope so," said Sullivan.

"Let's go! Let's party!" said Piroli.

"We'll be back and ready to party on Friday," said Ybarra.
