At-home graduation for Lincoln County student heading off to the army

Smith is headed off to the army next week and will be missing her school's rescheduled graduation happening this summer.

FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. — "As we read our Bible and study from the word, you know, God put us here to serve and she is going to do that in the best way that man and woman knows how to do, and that is to serve our country."

Those were the words of Principal Owens from Lincoln County High School in Fayetteville, Tennessee as he helped with a very special "at-home" graduation ceremony for Whitley Smith.

The makeshift graduation was held for Whitley because she will be missing the school's rescheduled graduation ceremony later this summer because she is heading off to the army next week.

She will also be missing the rescheduled prom, so her friends and her boyfriend got all dressed up and took some prom pictures!

Congratulations Whitley and thank you for your choice to serve our country.

We wish you the very best.
