Weathering the winter storm at Buc-ee's

Severe weather in Limestone County today causing roads and bridges to become impassable.

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Severe weather in Limestone County today causing roads and bridges to become impassable. FOX54 was there and spoke with a few Buc-ee's fans traveling through the area.

"I've been driving really slow because the ice, they don't put salt out here like they do in Chicago. So, it's bad. It's bad. I'm headed to Florida. I left at nine this morning from Cave City, Kentucky, and I just now got here, " said Andrea Kenealy.

Jerome Carter made a stop at Buc-ee's on his way back home to Michigan. "Well, I woke up this morning because I was leaving back to go to Michigan,  I'm like, everybody's panicking. I'm like  this  this Lebanon Michigan, right here. So, I'm just driving past people. My truck is four wheel drive, So, I have no problems."

Justin Self with Randy's Towing explained that his morning on call started pretty early. "We worked until about 2:00 this morning, mainly rain,  freezing rain, just  dealing with ice. And then once the snow started falling on it a little more during the day,  it's been a little more passable. We've done a lot out here on, of  course, Huntsville Brownsferry Road, Greenbrier Parkway. We've done a lot out here.  Um,  I started out about 6:00 this morning with  a rollover right out here, right outside of Buc-ee's parking lot. Yeah, just the black ice. As long as you just keep going and don't hit the brakes, don't freak out. Unless you've got to go somewhere and you've got something you just have to do , it's not worth it."
