MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. — The Barrels of Love food drive is collecting donations from February 15 until March 5 to support multiple Morgan County agencies.
To help keep local food pantries stocked, Barrels of Love is asking that people bring at least six non-perishable food items, such as peanut butter, canned meats, soups, ramen noodles, grits, pasta, pop top food items, drink boxes, canned fruits and vegetables, flour, sugar and cooking oil.
"Businesses, industries wherever you can hold a food drive. The barrel is symbolic, the box is symbolic. Get a plastic bag for goodness sake. Fill it up with whatever you have," says Barrels of Love Co-Founder, Wendy Taylor.
Agencies benefitting from the drive include the Committee on Church Cooperation, the Salvation Army and Backpack Program for the School Systems.
