Adoptions are free for most animals through March 21. Adoptions include spay or neuter, microchip and vaccinations.

They have pets of all shapes, sizes, ages, colors, and personalities. HAS also offers foster and sleepover opportunities for those who can't or may not be ready to adopt to spend some time with a pet in their home

The "Sleep-over" program allows you to take a pet home for 1 to 4 nights. When you bring the pet back to the shelter, you'll complete a form sharing all the information collected about the pet during their visit such as: Did the pet like other pets? Housebroken? Tolerates cats? Likes children? and more. Huntsville Animal Services says this program helps HAS develop a profile for the shelter pet.

You can also Foster to Adopt or Foster to Rehome. Foster to Adopt lets you try a pet, usually an adult dog, in your home for two weeks to see if they are a good fit for your family. Foster to Rehome is for sick pets, aged pets, and underaged puppies and kittens. This gives them a chance to recover, settle, or get to a mature, adoptable age. You'll also take pictures of the pet and write about their personality to help them find a forever home.

The Animal Shelter is located at 4950 Triana Boulevard and is open for business Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
