SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — Several boats caught fire Tuesday morning at Goose Pond Colony Marina. Sheriff Rocky Harnen confirmed the fire after a call came in around 6:30 a.m.
Scottsboro Fire Chief Jon Lee confirmed that five boats were completely destroyed in the blaze, while several others sustained heat damage.
In a post on Facebook, Goose Pond Colony expressed gratitude to the Scottsboro Fire and Police Department, as well as Rescue and EMS personnel, for their quick response and dedication in containing the fire. The post also thanked the boaters who quickly reported the fire.
"We are happy to report that there were no injuries from this incident," the post said.
The marina asked boat owners on Dock 6 who have not yet been in contact with staff to call Kelly at 256-912-0080 for assistance.
The marina also requested that the community give the onsite personnel time to clear the damages.
