HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — An external portion of the structure at the VBC apparently collapsed earlier today.
The area is under the dining and lounge area in Propst Arena.
Huntsville Fire & Rescue say that there are no injuries.
The latest:
VBC overhang collapse update:
- No injuries, confirmed by VBC and HSV Fire and Rescue
- Sprinkler system damaged when overhang of Propst Arena collapsed, likely caused the building’s alarm system to be activated
- Some water is spilling out of the overhang damage likely because of sprinklers
- Building was evacuated
- HSV Fire evaluated the damage, gave the OK for game to still take place
- Investigation underway to figure out cause of collapse
Tonight's Huntsville Havoc game is delayed with puck drop at 7:35 p.m.
