Brindlee Mountain High School Assistant Principal passes away

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. — Brindlee Mountain High School is mourning the loss of Assistant Principal Bill Ballew, who passed away recently. Ballew, who dedicated over 20 years to the Brindlee community, was a cherished figure in both the educational and personal lives of those at the school.

BMHS Principal Terry Allen released the following statement: “I am saddened to share the news that Mr. Bill Ballew, Assistant Principal at Brindlee Mountain High School, has passed away. He was a good man and was so very important to the personal and educational foundation of our community here at Brindlee. Mr. Ballew served the Brindlee community for over two decades. He will be missed. This morning we brought our entire family together at Brindlee Mountain High to share the news with students.”

On Wednesday, the school gathered students and staff to share the news. The school says that a counselor is available for anyone needing support or to talk about the loss.

Marshall County Superintendent of Education, Dr. Cindy Wigley, expressed her condolences, saying, "So many hearts are broken. Mr. Ballew was loved by many. We will honor him, support his family and always remember what he meant to our schools and our community. Thank you to Mr. Terry Allen, staff and students who have been so good to Mr. Ballew during his time of sickness." 

A graveside service for Ballow will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 16, at Antioch Baptist Cemetery-Fairview, with Bro. David Chambers officiating. Visitation will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.
