Calhoun Community College giving $150 to fully vaccinated students and employees

Students and employees must confirm their vaccination status by submitting a photo of their vaccine identification card.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Calhoun Community College is offering incentives to get more students and employees vaccinated against COVID-19.

Interim President of Calhoun Community College, Jimmy Hodges explains, "Our community college system and the Alabama Health Department has encouraged us to try to help folks to have opportunities to have the vaccination, so we're holding vaccination clinics."

Fully vaccinated students and staff can receive $150 just by rolling up their sleeves. Students must be enrolled in at least one credit earning course to qualify.

The deadline to confirm your vaccine status is Oct.15, and payments go out on Nov. 30. Employees will see the payment distributed along with their work checks and students can find the money on their BankMobile account.

One student says he'll be using his money to help with his tuition fees.

"Well I chose to be vaccinated because personally I feel like the world is getting crazier, and it's a whole lot of sickness going around and I'm not trying to bring it home to my family and make things worse with them," Joe Smith said.
