HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — An Alabama National Guard major wants students to have a better understanding of the experiences veterans face.
Major Randal C. Knight on Wednesday shared his experiences with students at Calhoun Community College. He spoke about the hardships he faced after serving and how mentally challenging it was to accept the realities of his situation.
Major Knight said it was an honor to be chosen by Calhoun as its Veterans Day keynote speaker.
"I'm not going to turn down a time to share my story," said Major Knight. "Because, I did face, during my transition from active duty into the guard, I did have a four-year break in service and I faced some challenges that I feel like all veterans face when they're getting out and I feel like some of them can travel to some spaces that they don't need to be."
