HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — One rescue lounge in Huntsville is raising awareness to spay and neuter cats during kitten season.
Cattyshack, Inc. at Lowe Mill hosted Kittypalooza. Events included kitten yoga, which will become a new ongoing activity.
"We're going to do that the fourth Thursday of May, June, July, and August," says CattyShack Owner & KittyPalooza Co-Director, Tina Cooley.
Reservations can be made online and fees are $35.
Organizers sold baked goods and also have a 'Plushy Adoption Event' which displays hand-crafted art on the 2nd floor connector that will remain there until June 1st.
Leaders say it helps to support the cause.
"Fundraising is very important this time of year, to support any rescue that you are inclined to support. Of course, adoptions are important. So we can keep as one goes, more comes in," says Cooley.
Organizers are hoping to make Kittypalooza an annual event. Learn more about Cattyshack below:
Cattyshack, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of shelter cats in Alabama. We provide food and medical supplies to our foster homes, as well as pay for all vet care. The Lounge is a resource for fundraising, socializing, and a way to increase cat adoptions.
The Cattyshack Lounge is designed to allow humans to relax, decompress, and enjoy everything from bouncy kittens to fat furry lugs. The donation you make for your reservation includes a beverage and a pre-packaged snack and goes right back into our rescue to help pay vet bills and buy food and litter. So find a comfy spot and wait for the magic to happen. Schedule your visit on our Reservations Page.
Cat adoptions involve filling out a non-binding application. Please plan to come back to the Lounge, or travel to the foster home, to pick up your kitty the following day. We take time to process applications. This includes phone or in-person interviews, doing a vet reference if there are animals in the home, contacting a personal reference, etc. To find out more about how the adoption process works, check out Our Kitties.
