HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The ChurchStreet Family businesses have earned significant recognition this year. The business was honored on Thursday as one of the 2024 Retailers of the Year by the Alabama Retail Association.
The Alabama Retailer of the Year awards, established in 1999, celebrate retailers who demonstrate exceptional growth, innovation, and commitment to their communities.
"To be recognized as the best in the state is overwhelming but shows that we are making a positive impact in our community and in our state. That is a dream come true,” said Matt and Stephanie Mell, owners of ChurchStreet Family.
Here are the locations the ChurchStreet Family operate:
- ChurchStreet Wine Shoppe: A wine bar and bottle shop with locations at 501 Church Street NW and 485 Providence Main Street.
- Purveyor: A bourbon-focused casual dining spot, which expanded in 2023 to include The Library at Purveyor Piano Bar.
- Pourhouse: A rooftop bar in the Stovehouse development known for its swanky atmosphere.
- Sea Salt: An urban oyster bar with both sidewalk and garage seating.
- Catacomb 435: An underground speakeasy offering craft cocktails.
- Mazzara’s Vinoteca: A family-run Italian restaurant recently relocated to the historic Humphreys-Rodgers House.
- L’il Mazzara’s: The second location of Mazzara’s, opened in Athens.
- ChurchStreet Test Kitchen: A restaurant and catering service at the Orion Amphitheater.
This year, the business stood out from a competitive pool of 62 nominees, receiving accolades in multiple categories.
They have also been named the 2024 Hospitality Services Business of the Year by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber. In addition, Stephanie Mell is among the 15 finalists for the Russell G. Brown Executive Leadership Award.
