ATHENS, Ala. — The City of Athens sanitation department has equipped its garbage trucks with cameras.
In a social media post, the city stated that the cameras would help supervisors review footage related to complaints about missed pickups or damage to property.
To avoid missed pickups and potential damage to equipment and property, sanitation officials remind the public of the following:
- On your pickup day, please have bins on the curb by 6 a.m.
- Do not place bins by other objects, such as mailboxes.
- Do not overflow the bins or place objects beside bins.
- If you have multiple bins, keep enough space between them for the automated arm to grab each bin without knocking one over.
