MORGAN COUNTY, Alabama — Coronavirus case numbers in Morgan County continue to go down.
The county has seen another week of less than a 5% increase in positive tests.
Hospitalizations in the county are also decreasing. The Decatur Morgan Hospital has 22 patients with the virus. Five of them are in the ICU.
Twenty-four of the hospital's employees have tested positive for COVID-19, and 29 of their employees are quarantined.
Morgan County Commission Chairman Ray Long says even though the numbers are trending in the right direction, it's important to continue to practice social distancing.
"It's a personal decision. We shouldn't have to have people tell us to do it," said Chairman Long. "We ought to do it just because we know it's the right thing to do, and the numbers here are a clear indication that show the masks are working."
Hospital officials say the emergency room is open and that it is safe to go.
