DECATUR, Ala. — Two people have died in an apparent murder-suicide in Decatur on September 6.
According to the Decatur Police Department, the incident happened around 12:07 p.m. after officers conducted a well-being check at a home on 5th Avenue SW.
Police found Stephanie Miller Tribble, 60, and Jonathan Wayne Dawes, 44, dead inside the residence from apparent gunshot wounds.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, the Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn responded to the scene. Both bodies were transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsies.
Preliminary investigations suggest Dawes shot Tribble before taking his own life. No other injuries were found on either victim.
The investigation is ongoing.
