Man arrested in Decatur after months on the run following June shooting

DECATUR, Ala. — A man has been taken into custody after months following an investigation into a shooting that happened in June.

According to Decatur Police, on June 15, officers responded to Parkway Medical Center after reports of a gunshot victim. The victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, stated that the shooting happened at a home on the 1000 block of Hoover Avenue SW. 

DPD identified the suspect as Quincey Jamar Wilkerson on June 21 and issued an arrest warrant that same day. Despite multiple attempts by different agencies to arrest him, Wilkerson managed to get away.

DPD reports that on September 21, Wilkerson was arrested at a residence on 12th Avenue NW after a brief standoff. Wilkerson is currently being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $30,000 bond, with additional charges anticipated as the investigation continues.
