HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Seniors! Here's your chance to get a drive-thru flu shot at the Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center.
The Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center will host the Madison County Health Department’s first drive-thru flu vaccine clinic on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 9am to 2pm, at the Senior Center’2200 Drake Avenue SW location.
Clinic traffic will be directed from Ivy Street into the front parking lot closest to Drake.
“Getting a vaccine against the flu is more important than ever,” said Teresa Crandall, RN, Senior Center Health Programs Coordinator. “Flu symptoms can mimic the same symptoms as COVID, including fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. Our goal is for everyone to stay well. Reducing flu cases also helps preserve healthcare resources for COVID patients.”
They say that a forms of insurance accepted include BCBS, Medicaid, or Medicare, but no one will be turned away as long as vaccine supplies last.
At a previous Senior Flu Shot Clinic, pharmacists on hand told us getting your flu shot is critical every year for everyone. But it's especially critical for our seniors, and it could be even more crucial this year during the pandemic.
Camron Howell, a pharmacist administering flu shots, said, “We don’t know what’s going to happen this year with COVID. We do know the viruses are going to be out there. We know the flu is going to be circulating… We want to protect people against what we can protect them against at this time. It’s so important for seniors because they’re more likely to get the infection.”
