HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Executive Director of Singing River Trail was arrested on child pornography charges this morning. John Kvach faces six charges related to possession and distribution of child pornography. He was released late Monday afternoon after posting $100,000 bond.
A spokesperson for the Madison County Sheriff's Office says the search warrant executed Monday in Brownsboro "resulted from an ongoing investigation by the Alabama ICAC [Internet Crimes Against Children] Task Force", and that MCSO was there to assist them with their investigation.
FOX54 reached out to ALEA, which oversees the ICAC, for additional information.
According to its website, ICAC "consists of local law enforcement agencies across the state, which is managed by ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation’s (SBI) Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. This unit’s mission is to aggressively perform investigations to identify, apprehend, and prosecute perpetrators of technology-facilitated crimes against children, as well as human trafficking."
The Board of Directors of Singing River Trail confirmed they are "beginning the process of Dr. Kvach's separation" from their organization.
"The alleged behavior is unacceptable and reprehensible," the Board said in a statement. "At this time, the Board of Directors does not believe that any of the alleged conduct involved Singing River Trail resources, offices, or sites, but should that change, the Board will direct its remaining team members to fully investigate any such allegation. Moreover, the Singing River Trail Team will cooperate with law enforcement in any way necessary."
Kvach's profile was removed from the organization's website late Monday afternoon.
Established in 2018, Singing River Trail is a 200+ mile greenway system dedicated to preserving the Native American heritage of the region.
