TUSCUMBIA, Ala. — The Colbert County Tourism Office has some tours for history enthusiasts! Tuscumbia and Sheffield, two towns in Colbert County, are set to host the state’s Saturday morning walking tours throughout April. Starting at 10 a.m. every Saturday, these tours are set to show the rich history of the towns.
In Tuscumbia, each Saturday in April will unveil a different side of the town's history. From the historic First Presbyterian Church on April 6 and April 27, to the Winston Home on April 13, and Locust Hill on April 20. Meanwhile, in Sheffield, the guided tours will run through the North Montgomery residential area on April 6 and 20, and the downtown business district on April 13 and 27.
"We're thrilled that our communities are offering these free walking tours to highlight the incredible history and culture of our community," said Susann Hamlin, President & CEO of Colbert County Tourism. "We invite everyone to come out and explore the beautiful neighborhoods of Tuscumbia and Sheffield and learn about the stories and people that have shaped our history."
The tours will depart from the old Coldwater Books building in Tuscumbia and the Sheffield City Hall in Sheffield. Sponsored by the Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation and the Sheffield Historic Commission, the tours are free and open to the public.
