HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Fantasy Playhouse Children's Theater and Academy is moving to a new home, but they need your help.
A fundraiser from the theater is now underway. The project has been in the works since 2015.
The current location, on Long Avenue, has been closed to the public since March.
The new location is along Holmes Avenue and Triana Boulevard. The 35,700 square foot theatre arts campus will feature classroom space to support all aspects of theatre arts education and as well as a 355 seat theater. The five-acre campus would have a technical suite, which includes lighting design and set design.
Leaders say this would be a "game changer" for STEAM students.
"This is bringing all of our programming under one roof, because we've been so spread out. We're at the VBC trying to do shows there, and during the summer we don't have enough space so we've been renting space from like Bob Jones, and Triple A, and it's a real game changer," says Fantasy Playhouse Children's Theater & Academy Executive Director, Karen Mockensturm.
Leaders say the project could cost up to $12 million. So far, the City of Huntsville pledged $2 million. To donate, click here.

The virus can easily spread from person to person, so the CDC recommends you stay at least 6-feet apart from people not in your household. The virus is spread through respiratory droplets that are produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, breaths or talks, according to the CDC. Additionally, the CDC recommends that you frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Symptoms to look out for include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, a sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting and diarrhea, according to the CDC.
