HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Fire rescue crews were called to an apartment complex in the 4100 block of Memorial Parkway SW Monday as a fire raged in one of the buildings.
The fire happened about 7:30 a.m. at the Fern Parc Apartment Homes.
The complex is located on the west side of Memorial, north of Martin Road.
Video shot by FOX54 showed flames shooting from the roof of the 2-story structure. Asst. Fire Marshal Jerry Tanner-Call said one person was taken to the hospital.
Marshal said he could hear the alarm system when he arrived at the scene.
An estimated 16-20 units are affected and the fire led to a collapse of the roof of the building. The American Red Cross is assisting those who have been displaced.
Six fire trucks responded to the call.
