Florence man charged after altercation with police officers

FLORENCE, Ala. — A 31-year-old Florence resident is facing charges after an altercation with a Florence Police Officer.

Florence Police Department was alerted to a guest who was refusing to leave a residence on North Franklin Street, and the homeowner had called to ask the police department to remove Tyler Reeves from the home. 

When officers approached Reeves, he shut the door on the officers. When Reeves later opened the door again, officers attempted to grab Reeves. While trying to get ahold of Reeves, an officer's arm was struck, and the glass in the door shattered, causing wounds on the officers' arm. 

The officer was treated for a deep laceration to their arm at the North Alabama Medical Center and was released. 

Tyler Reeves was then charged with Assault of a Police Officers, and Resisting Arrest. Reeves was handed a $2,800 bond.
