HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Normally, the Food Bank of North Alabama hands out over a million pounds of food each month.
But because of their closure during Thanksgiving week - thanks to COVID - they were only able to give out around 800,000 pounds of food in November.

The Food Bank is back in full swing now... But they are running behind with food donations for those who need it most.
"This is our busiest time of year always, and with COVID, it's even more so. We have more people seeking assistance than ever before. People who have never sought assistance before. So, we wanna make sure that we have enough food to handle that going into the end of the year and even into early next year," said Shirley Schofield, Executive Director at Food Bank of North Alabama.
The food bank will be hosting a free holiday food distribution this Wednesday, December 16, 2020. At A&M's tailgate parking lot from 10am to 1pm.
This event will be a drive-thru mobile pantry for those who need food assistance during the holiday season.
