HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Governor Kay Ivey will join the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Discovery Life Sciences Global Headquarters this Wednesday, October 11th at 10 a.m.
Area government and business leaders will also be there to tour the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology’s new 93-thousand square-foot building.
Speakers set to include:
- Kay Ivey, Governor, State of Alabama
- Jim Hudson, HudsonAlpha Co-Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the HudsonAlpha Board
- Neil Lamb, PhD, HudsonAlpha President
- Glenn Bilawsky, CEO of Discovery Life Sciences
- The Honorable Tommy Battle, Mayor, City of Huntsville
Discovery's new Global Headquarters will combine jobs from across the biotechnology campus and U.S and increase HudsonAlpha's multi-billion dollar economic impact on the state of Alabama.
HudsonAlpha has become a national and international leader in genetics since its opening in 2008, and is also leading in genomics research and biotech education. The institute has more than 45 different biotech companies on campus.
The institute remains a nonprofit facility; HudsonAlpha says on its website that it is funded through a combination of public and private contributions, including grant awards, donations, and fees for some of its genomic health and plant genomics services.
