HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Need help with groceries or a flu shot? First Missionary Baptist Church is hosting a grocery giveaway and community wellness event with free flu shots.
The event on Friday, Nov. 6 starts at 9:00 a.m.at the church at 3509 Blue Spring Road in Huntsville.
Organizers say FMBC staff and members are preparing to give away one thousand boxes of groceries to families. In addition to the groceries, the congregation is partnering with Huntsville Hospital and its Mobile Medical Unit to administer flu shots free of charge to those in attendance.
“This is our congregation’s gesture of solidarity with people who are feeling strained during these times. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in this way and provide support that so many need,” says Pastor Don Darius Butler.
FMBC says that workers will practice safe distancing protocols through a drive-through distribution method. Just open your trunk and volunteers will load the supplies of pre-packed boxes, while supplies last.
This giveaway is the fifth grocery distribution in recent months at First Missionary Baptist Church, benefiting families from Huntsville and neighboring counties.
