HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Parks & Recreation has released its 2024-2025 Winter Program Guide, offering hundreds of festive and free activities for residents to enjoy at City facilities this winter.
The guide offers a variety of programs for all ages, whether you're looking to stay active or celebrate the season.
Programs featured in the guide include fitness classes, aquatics, athletics, and outdoor adventures. Additionally, there are more than a dozen holiday-themed events, such as the Cozy Care Holiday Drive, Winter Break Camps, Maintain, Don’t Gain, Big Spring Jingle, and more.
“We believe the holiday season is a time for giving, and we’re proud to give back to our community with these events for residents of all ages,” said James Gossett, Parks & Recreation Director. “We hope our residents will join us in participating and celebrating the joy and magic of the season with us.”
Here are some of the free events for all ages (unless otherwise noted). Some events require registration:

- Toys for Tots Drive: Nov. 29-Dec. 11, Johnson Legacy Center
- Santa Selfie Studio: Dec. 1-24, Dr. Richard Showers Sr. Recreation Center
- Mistletoe & Bingo Bash: Dec. 3, 9-11 a.m., Dr. Robert Shurney Legacy Center (Ages 50+)
- Christmas Wreath-Making Workshop: Dec. 6, 5-8 p.m., Cavalry Hill Community Center ($10 per person; ages 18+)
- Shining Stars Adaptive Holiday Talent Showcase: Dec. 7, 5-8 p.m., Jaycee Building, John Hunt Park (Ages 6+)
- Santa’s Senior Shindig: Dec. 12, 9 a.m. to noon, Mark Russell Recreation Center (Ages 50+)

- Zumba Jingle Jam: Dec. 20, 5-6 p.m., Challenger Gymnasium (Ages 18+)
- Big Spring Jingle: Dec. 20, 4-9 p.m., Big Spring Park
- Parents’ Night Out: Dec. 20, 5-8 p.m., Mark Russell Recreation Center (registration required)
- Holiday Play Day for Kids: Dec. 21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Brahan Spring Park Recreation Center (registration by Dec. 13; ages 6-12)
- Holiday Art Clinic: Dec. 21, 9 a.m. to noon, Optimist Recreation Center ($10 per child; ages 7-12)
- Winter Break Camp: Dec. 23, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Dec. 24, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Dr. Richard Showers Sr. Center and Fern Bell Recreation Center (Grades 1-6; $20 for first child, $10 per sibling)
