Huntsville firm secures $3.7 billion Air Force contract

This 12-year contract aims to support the Arnold Engineering Development Complex by enhancing aerospace testing capabilities.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Astrion announced that the U.S. Air Force awarded Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH), a joint venture between Astrion and Fluor, the Test Operations and Sustainment (TOS) II contract valued at over $3.7 billion. This 12-year contract is dedicated to supporting the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), reinforcing vital infrastructure for aerospace testing.

Under the banner of Beyond New Horizons, Astrion and Fluor will perform test operations, technological advancements, equipment and facility maintenance, and strategic upgrades to uphold the Arnold Engineering Development Complex's mission. The TOS II contract aims to support the Air Force's capabilities in managing aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges, and other specialized facilities.

Beyond New Horizons will work six AEDC sites, including Arnold Air Force Base (AFB) in Tennessee, the National Full Scale Aerodynamics Complex in Mountain View, California, Tunnel 9 in White Oak, Maryland, the Landing Gear Test Facility at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, the Aerospace Vehicle Survivability Facility at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, and the National Radar Cross Section Test Facility at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.

This announcement follows Astrion's recent contract win worth $910 million to support the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command in ensuring the safety, suitability, and effectiveness of aviation platforms, missiles, and sensors.
