HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville City Schools will celebrate graduation for all of its schools on June 25-26 at the Von Braun Center.
Plans have been enhanced to allow more guests while still allowing social distancing.
The district says that students will now be seated, walk across stage to receive their diplomas, and return to their seats for the remainder of the ceremony. Schools will provide students with four additional tickets allowing each student to have eight guests in attendance. Guests may remain at their seats for the entire ceremony.
Originally, students were to be provided with four tickets, line up, walk across stage to receive their diploma, and immediately exit the arena with guests.
Grissom and Huntsville High will host an additional graduation ceremony to accommodate for social distancing among students and guests. Principals will share more information with families regarding ticket distribution and additional ceremonies.
Enhanced graduation times are as follows:
June 25, 2020
- 10 a.m.: New Century High School
- 2 p.m.: Lee High School
- 5 p.m.: Grissom High School (first ceremony)
- 7 p.m.: Grissom High School (second ceremony)
June 26, 2020
- 10 a.m.: Jemison High School
- 2 p.m.: Columbia High School
- 5 p.m.: Huntsville High School (first ceremony)
- 7 p.m.: Huntsville High School (second ceremony)
The enhanced plans follow discussions with VBC officials in an effort to provide students the opportunity to witness their friends graduate while also promoting a safe and healthy environment for students and guests.
