Grissom High School returns to remote learning

All students will use remote learning from Mon., Feb 1 through Fri., Feb 5.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Grissom High School will temporarily transition to remote learning beginning Monday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 5 for all students. Traditional students will return to classrooms on Mon., Feb. 8.

Grissom is the second school this week to temporarily transition to remote learning.

Huntsville City Schools released the following information about the change:

The district’s Preventative Measures Team worked collaboratively with the school’s leadership team to assess several factors before making the decision to transition to remote learning, including the number of positive COVID-19 cases, the number of students and staff members in quarantine, and staffing availability. The Preventative Measures team regularly makes individualized assessments on the needs of each school, and it will continue to monitor the status of all of the district’s schools.

GHS will serve curbside meals for students on weekdays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. during the remote learning period. Instruction will occur as it did during the remote learning period at the beginning of the school year. Families who may have any questions can contact their student’s teacher and principal.

Weatherly Heights Elementary will also temporarily transition to remote learning beginning Friday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 5. Traditional students will return to campus on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021.

WHES will serve curbside meals for students on weekdays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. during the remote learning period. 

Instruction will occur as it did during the remote learning period at the beginning of the school year. Families who may have any questions are invited to contact their student’s teacher and principal.
