HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Huntsville City Council wants you to show off your holiday spirit, and you might even get city recognition for it.
While Huntsville might have some of the worlds most acclaimed Christmas light collections such as the Galaxy of Lights, Rocket City Trash Panda's Christmas Light Show, or Tinsel Trail in Downtown, the contest is more focused on home.
“Deck the Districts is a wonderful way for Huntsville to come together and celebrate the season,” City Council President John Meredith said. “This gives our residents the chance to not only brighten their homes, but also inspire their neighbors to spread their own holiday cheer. It’s a festive, fun tradition that will make our city shine even brighter this holiday season.”
The Deck the Districts holiday lights contest is open to anyone living in a city council district, and you have till December 9th to make your case with photos attached. All entries can be submitted here.
City Council staff will then judge who each winner should be, and on the December 19th City Council meeting, the winners for all five districts will be announced. All winners will receive a special gift, a yard sign, and bragging rights for the next year.
