Big Spring Park transformed into winter wonderland for annual Tinsel Trail

Huntsville's downtown park becomes quite the spectacle, with organizations sponsoring a tree (or two!) to decorate.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — For the 14th season running, downtown Huntsville is transformed into a winter wonderland, as Big Spring Park hosts the annual Tinsel Trail.

The free event is open all hours for residents and visitors alike to explore. Local organizations and businesses sponsor a tree, sometimes two or more, to decorate with a distinctive theme.

Cadence Bank built a facsimile of an ATM obscuring most of their tree, spitting out a line of dollar bills that also adorn the tree's branches.

Deloitte, taking their slogan of "Building Bridges Together" to heart, constructed a small bridge linking their pair of trees together.

Ampersand Solutions decorated theirs, naturally, with '&' ornaments. A cutout of Australian Olympic breakdancer (and meme subject) RayGun in her classic 'arched' position appearing to put the largest ampersand atop the tree.

Morell Engineering's tree is flocked with a team of reindeer fashioned out of rolled blueprints.

"All the trees are really nice and festive," observed visitor Alexa Williams. "It feels like Christmas now."

Resident Emma Obrzut said she really liked this year's Mayor's Tree. Covered in silver and gold bows and baubles, this large tree is stately and traditional. "There's some pretty good trees out here this year," she said. "We come every yea r- it's one of the biggest traditions in Huntsville."

Along with Skating in the Park, which takes place nearby, just behind the Huntsville Museum of Art, the downtown area is sure to be a place with many wonderful holiday season memories once more this year!
