Huntsville prepares for spooktacular Halloween celebrations

Huntsville Parks & Recreation has activities planned at various city recreation centers. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume and enjoy free candy.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Get ready for a frightfully fun time as Huntsville Parks & Recreation hosts a series of Halloween events that will delight the whole family! Huntsville Parks & Recreation will host a series of family-friendly Halloween festivities at city recreation centers, ensuring a ghoulishly good time for all ages.

Costumes are encouraged at each free event, with masked goblins rewarded with free candy. Families can look forward to a variety of activities designed to foster community engagement and create memorable experiences.

“There’s nothing scary about these events, but instead plenty of family-friendly fun,” Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett said. “We’ll have lots of candy for all the ghosts, monsters and superheroes who visit our recreation centers.”

The highlight of the season is the Halloween Party & Haunted House, set for Sunday, Oct. 27, from 4-9 p.m. at The Orion Amphitheater.

  • Boo Bash: Thursday, Oct. 24, 6-8 p.m., Brahan Spring Recreation Center
  • Monster Mash: Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Mark Russell Recreation Center
  • Haunted Hallways & Fall Festival: Tuesday, Oct. 29, 5:30-8 p.m., Cavalry Hill Recreation Center
  • Adaptive Fall Fun Festival: Tuesday, Oct. 29, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Fern Bell Recreation Center
  • A Frightful Night of Fun & Games: Wednesday, Oct. 30, 5-8 p.m., Optimist Recreation Center
  • Hallowfest: Thursday, Oct. 31, 6-9 p.m., Lakewood Recreation Center
  • Spooktacular Fall Festival: Thursday, Oct. 31, 6-9 p.m., Showers Recreation Center
