Splashdown! Huntsville parks' water pads ready for action

The city's three splash pads will be open and ready to wade into Monday, May 15.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The summer heat is already upon us in North Alabama, and the City of Huntsville's Parks and Recreation department is ready to give us all a good cooling down. This week, they made an announcement that is sure to make all the kids - and likely some adults, too - jump for joy.

All three city splash pads are ready to take on wave after wave of visitors starting this Monday, May 15, at 10:00 a.m. sharp!

For those new to town or who need a refresher, here's where the splash pads are located throughout Huntsville:

  • Dr. Richard Showers, Sr. Splash Pad: 4600 Blue Spring Rd. NW 
    • Hours of operation Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • EveryBody Can Play Splash Pad: 3771 Ivy Ave. SW 
    • Hours of operation Monday-Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Bicentennial Park Splash Pad: 315 Fountain Circle 
    • Hours of operation Monday-Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. 
    • Please note, there are no restroom/changing facilities at Bicentennial Park. 

All splash pads are free to access all summer long.

The city is also gearing up to teach folks how to swim! There are courses for children as well as other age groups. Registration for classes at the Showers Center begin Tuesday, with classes at the Acquatics Center to be announced at a later date. Click here for more information.
