HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) seeks community feedback as part of its reaccreditation process with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
Residents can share their opinions on HPD’s community involvement, public safety services, and overall performance through CALEA’s public comment portal. This portal allows people to submit feedback directly to CALEA for review.
HPD first earned CALEA accreditation in 1996 and has maintained it continuously. This voluntary accreditation, recognized as the gold standard in public safety, helps ensure that agencies remain accountable to both the community and their own standards.
“HPD strives to comply with CALEA’s stringent accreditation standards, a benchmark we’ve achieved for the last 27 years,” HPD Chief Kirk Giles said. “In doing so, our department has developed cutting-edge training techniques and key practices that help us serve and protect our citizens at a higher level.”
