Huntsville police collect 558 pounds of unwanted medications with drug take-back program during third quarter of 2020

HPD said the total for the entire year surpasses 1,000 pounds so far.

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — The Huntsville Police Department collected 558 pounds of unwanted or expired medications with its drug take-back program during the third quarter of 2020.

HPD said the total for the entire year surpasses 1,000 pounds so far. The amount of collected in the third quarter of 2020 was the highest weight collected since the program's inception in 2016.

If you have unwanted medications and want to safely dispose of them, the drug take-back location at 815 Wheeler Ave. is available 24/7, according to police. Additionally, HPD said individual precincts are open during regular business hours Mondays through Fridays.
