HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville has been ranked among the top 10 best places to retire in the U.S. for 2025!
According to a new list from U.S. News & World Report, the city is ranked #8 for its affordable housing, growing job market, and overall quality of life.
With a score of 6.8 out of 10, Huntsville stands out for its housing affordability, receiving an impressive rating of 8.5. However, the city’s healthcare quality scored 3.7.
While it doesn't rank as highly for healthcare quality as other locations like New York City or Sarasota, Huntsville’s affordability makes it an attractive option for retirees seeking a budget-friendly place to live.
Ranked among the fastest-growing metro areas in Alabama, Huntsville has become a hub for engineering and defense, with a significant portion of its population working in fields related to NASA and the U.S. Army's Redstone Arsenal.
Other cities in the top 10 include Naples, Florida, ranked first, Virginia Beach, Virginia, ranked second, and New York City, ranked third.
Sarasota, Florida, is ranked fourth, and Boise, Idaho, is ranked fifth.
As retirees seek locations with a good balance of affordability, healthcare, and lifestyle, Huntsville continues to gain national recognition as a top contender for those ready to make the move.
