Huntsville Police responded to a call about an animal in a car in the parking lot of the Ole Heidelberg Restaurant on 6125 University Drive. Someone called and reported a small Cocker Spaniel was left in a car that wasn’t running and had the windows rolled up.

The responding officer waited for several minutes to see if someone came out to the car. According to police, several people coming in and out of the restaurant said the dog had been in the car for awhile. Officers then called Huntsville Fire to gain entry to the vehicle and Animal Control to take care of the dog.

Huntsville Fire responded to the call and rescued the animal. Officers noticed it was extremely hot inside the vehicle. According to police, the dog had been in the car with no air for approximately an hour or more.
