I-565 ramp to Toyota Field in last stages, needs green light from ALDOT to open

Developers and contractors are in the last stages of opening the ramp.

MADISON, Ala. — The ramp to get you to the Trash Panda's Stadium from I-565 on Town Madison Boulevard checks all the boxes for road work.

However, it still needs the green-light to officially open.

What's left are some small finishing touches, but The Alabama Department of Transportation say the ramps aren't ready to be open yet.

"First game, you know is the first week in May. So we have a little time in there," says Breland Companies Spokesperson, Joey Ceci.

Breland companies, the developers who spent more than a year working on the exit ramp say they're hoping to get the ramps open much sooner than the Trash Pandas season opener.

"There's a lot of people out here now who need to use this road. Redstone Arsenal is starting to reopen. This is a great way for commuters to start accessing Zierdt Road and the gated Martin Road," says Ceci.

Contractors are wrapping up their work. "They're putting some last striping on the road down on Town Madison Boulevard," says Ceci.

ALDOT says they "Are working with the developer on meeting the legal requirements to transfer the right of way to the state and bring the work into compliance with our standards."

"There's a legal process that we have to go through to transfer the property. All of the land under the interchange is being donated to the state of Alabama."

ALDOT says the developer's consultants are preparing the deed to convey property to the state. "We hope for all of that to be resolved and wrapped up within the next week and see traffic moving on this interchange," says Ceci.

ALDOT says there's still some outstanding final work items that Breland Companies has to work out with their contractors before ALDOT can take over maintenance of the ramps.
