MidCity kicks off July 4 with fireworks, festivities

MidCity District has already started celebrating for the Fourth of July.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala — Independence Day weekend is here and MidCity District got a head start on holiday festivities.

“Well we started the whole weekend off last night with two great bands,"  Lindsey Pattillo Keane, marketing and property activation for MidCity District explained. "We had yoga this morning at 9:30. We’ve got two great deejays playing right now.”

MidCity has kicked off the holiday fun, and they don’t plan to slow down until Sunday night. Fireworks begin on June 3 at 10 p.m. Visitors can park anywhere around MidCity and enjoy the view for free.

Anyone who wants to have a good time can show up and listen to live music, eat, and order special Independence Day cocktails. Midcity is expecting a large turnout.

“Tonight, our fireworks [are] at 10 p.m. People can park all over the district. We had 6,000 people last year," Keane said.

Most of the activities are family-friendly with events for people of all ages. Tomorrow, July 4, the day begins with a watermelon carving contest and in the afternoon there will be a farmer’s market with almost 40 vendors.

“We have lots of layers happening at MidCity. We’ve got music and food, and drinks, and shopping, and all of our tenants here are open," Keane said.

These Independence Day events aren’t the only thing that MidCity District has up its sleeves. With the new Trader Joe's almost finished, and hotels being built, MidCity is on a roll.
