DECATUR, Ala. — The investigation into what happened when a truck belonging to a Falkville police officer backed onto a patio at the Decatur Chipotle continues.
The attorney representing the Falkville Police Department tells us that the officer returned to work within a week of the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and the attorney tells us there is body cam footage from the officer involved as well as dash cam footage from the truck.
In the next two weeks, there will be an inspection of the truck, in which all parties will be present, including the people injured in the crash.

Four people were injured Monday night. Sept. 23, when a pickup truck backed onto the patio of the Chipotle Restaurant on Beltline Road in Decatur.
According to Decatur Police, when officers responded to a call from the location, they found a Falkville Police Department vehicle in the restaurant’s patio. Two adults and two children were taken to Decatur Morgan Hospital.
One of the children was later airlifted to receive further treatment.
A spokesperson with DPD said the Falkville officer reported that he had parked and gone into the restaurant when the truck began to roll backwards. The initial investigation revealed a possible malfunction with the vehicle after a “Shift Sys Fault” message appeared on the dashboard.
The Falkville Police Department responded and towed the vehicle.
