Jazz in the Park returns to Big Spring Park

Jazz in the Park is back at Big Spring Park, and the city of Huntsville has a big announcement.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — For the first time in three years, Jazz in the Park will return in-person starting September 4. One of the performances will be a the new Orion Amphitheater!

“So we were shut down by the pandemic in 2020. We pivoted to a virtual event in 2021. But we were very excited about the opportunity to bring it back to the park this year. And then we got the bonus opportunity of bringing in the amphitheater, of course, this beautiful brand new amphitheater has been built, for use by our community to bring in all kinds of artists,” said Kenny Anderson, Director of Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion City of Huntsville.

The four-week concert series has a new lineup as well.

“We have an amazing array of artists, locally, regionally, nationally, who perform an incredible amount of music that we think is some of the best experiences in the world,” added Anderson.

We asked about Jazz in the Park’s expansion to the Orion Amphitheater and the city’s rapid growth.

“I think it does represent, the bulk of our community when we say it’s number one, we definitely want to demonstrate we are number one. We don’t want to just say it, we want to do it, and by doing that, amazing performances. Jazz in the Park is absolutely free of charge, and so we have no barriers for people who want to come out and have a great night. Whether it’s in the park, or whether it’s in the amphitheater, we look forward to it,” said Anderson.
