Jefferson County now requiring face masks

Effective June 29, 2020, public establishments in Jefferson County will require persons to wear a face covering by order of the Jefferson County Health Officer.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala. — In response to rising COVID-19 numbers, the Jefferson County Health Officer has ordered that everyone must wear a mask/face covering in public establishments.

The order was announced on June 26.

Public places/establishments include stores, bars, restaurants, entertainment venues, public meeting spaces, government buildings, civic centers, entertainment venues, and similar places.

The order also extends to public transportation including mass transit, paratransit, ride shares,and taxi service.

There is no end-date on the order.
