HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — There's nothing like the great outdoors, especially during the summertime! It's why next month city leaders encourage you to get out and play!
City of Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle proclaimed July as "Parks and Recreation Month" in Huntsville.
The announcement took place at the Dr. Robert Shurney Legacy Center Park.
Leaders say next month is an opportunity to enjoy more than 60 parks, greenways, playgrounds, and indoor activities the city has to offer.
"We are excited to highlight those opportunities throughout the city of Huntsville and throughout the month of July. They'll be many activities going on. So please take part, and play with us!," says City of Huntsville Parks & Recreation Director, Bernita Reese.
Other recreation includes athletic programs - nature trails and splash pads.
