Kentucky man jailed in Lauderdale County, charged with rape after checking teen out of school

According to court documents, Justin Stephens claimed to be the teen's father to get her out of her Lauderdale County School.

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. — A Kentucky man remains jailed in Lauderdale County after he allegedly checked a teen out of school by calling and pretending to be her father, then having sex with her before returning her to school.

Court documents accuse Justin Stephens, 43, of traveling to meet a child for sex, enticing a child, and Rape 2nd degree. 

According to the complaint, the victim was picked up by an adult male from a Lauderdale County School. The victim's father said that the male, later identified as Justin Stephens, called the school and told them he was the victim's father and she needed to be check out. The school security cameras captured the victim leaving school around 9 a.m., entering into a black Dodge truck, and returning back to school around 2:00 P.M. Muscle Shoals Police Department located Mr. Stephens that night in Colbert County at a Clarion Hotel.

The complaint also says he confessed to having sex with the victim and exchanging nude images by phone.

As of noon on Oct. 15, Stephens is in custody at the Lauderdale County Detention Center with a bond of $365,000.
