Lawrence County inmate back in custody after jail escape

MOULTON, Ala. — UPDATE (7/28): David Alan Wright was put back into custody as of 5 a.m., officials said. Deputies could not give any further details as to Wright's apprehension, but they said he was medically treated for cuts received to his body during his escape.

The following is the original message sent to FOX54 from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 27.

The Lawrence County Sheriffs Office is looking for David Alan Wright. Mr Wright was in jail for Kidnapping and giving false information to Law Enforcement.  The Kidnapping charge stemmed from holding one of his roommates against their will and threatening to harm them.   The victim in this case has been notified. 

The inmate managed to scale the razor wire fence upon conclusion of exercise around 1:30 pm today. The inmate was not noticed until feeding time around 4:30. If you know of the whereabouts of Mr. Wright please contact 911.
