LAWRENCE COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala. — UPDATE: Authorities announced that the body of a hunter missing in Lawrence County has been found. He has been identified as 70-year-old Daniel Whitaker. FOX54 will being you more in this breaking story as it becomes available.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing hunter in the Bankhead National Forest.
The hunter was reported missing by his wife around 3:30 p.m. Thursday after he failed to return home by noon as expected. Authorities believe he may be in the area near Pine Torch Church.
ALEA Aviation assisted in the search efforts until 11 p.m. Thursday, and the search will resume at 8 a.m. Friday.
