Legendary Alabama high school basketball coach Jack Doss coming out of retirement

Jack Doss is coming out of retirement and is now the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Grissom High School.

When you're passionate about something, it's hard to stay away from it long. For the legendary and Hall of Fame basketball coach, Jack Doss, three years was long enough. Doss is coming out of retirement and is now the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Grissom High School.

Doss is a 10-time state champion. He was the first Alabama basketball coach to win titles at four schools: Mae Jemison, J.O. Johnson, Butler, and Hayes. 

Doss is a member of the AHSAA Hall of Fame and coached three former Mr. Basketball winners: John Petty, Trevor Lacey, and Howard Pride. 

Doss retired in 2017 after winning the Class 5A state title at Mae Jemison. That same year he was named the USA Today Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.

Doss is fourth in wins in AHSAA Boys basketball history with 812.
